Ecstatic Dance- A Mind- Body- Community Experience at Cedar Park

About the workshop

Flow Yoga is super excited to partner up with Austin Ecstatic Rhythms and bring this incredible group to our Cedar Park location every 3rd Saturday if each month. The evening will include cacao ceremony, tea tasting, vendors, sound bath and a community ecstatic dance.

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a free movement dance celebration for all ages that takes place without talking and with a DJ, you can enjoy music and movement in a space where you can feel free to move like YOU.

What if I can't dance?

Perfect! Then ecstatic dance is for you! Some amazing benefits of ecstatic dance are the ability to become comfortable in your own skin, and move in ways that you may have never moved. Whether you dance with partners, dance by yourself, dance with your eyes closed or simply jump around. What you will find is that the more you do it, the more the music dances you and not the other way around.

What to expect:

-A safe place to express yourself through movement

-The most fun and incredible workout ever!

-A place to let loose all the tension of daily life

-An amazing place for community and growth

-A place you meet yourself and others

What NOT to expect:

-Do not expect a place to escape through the use of drugs and alcohol, everything has it's place, here is not that place

-It's not a place of criticism or dancing perfectionism

Austin Ecstatic Rhythms

About the Facilitators:

Keith has been coaching, facilitating, teaching and a community leader for the last 10 years.

He started dancing in the Austin Ecstatic Dance Community 10 years ago as well, and found his beloved dance interrupted by Covid in May of 2020, when the couple who had hosted this tradition for 13+ years lost their venue.

By September of 2020, Keith had worked with them to bring the dance back to outdoor spaces, and over the course of a year, led his community to dance outdoors at parks, fields, and private property all over Austin.

Late last year, he found an amazing venue, and took the traditional Sunday morning ecstatic dance back indoors after an almost 2 year hiatus.

He considers himself a steward of this 30+ year long tradition of ecstatic dance here in Austin, and is honored and enthusiastic to bring it to more and more people here.

Derek Dylan Scott is the co owner and facilitator of Austin Ecstatic Rhythms. He was born and raised right here in Austin. He went to his first Ecstatic dance in Austin 22 years ago which led him to connect with himself on deeper level, as well as a new community, and his purpose. Derek is a dancer, an herbalist, an earth steward, and a gentle guide & observer of his fellow humans. His journey has led him to a place of holding space and giving a helping hand however he can. Derek has a passion to sharing this beautiful thing called Ecstatic Dance that can be healing, transformational, and as the name implies, Ecstatic!

Derek & Keith look forward to seeing Y'all on the dance floor.
