Megan's philosophy is firmly rooted in Sutra 1.2: Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah - the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind is Yoga. She acquired her RYT 200 in Vinyasa Yoga right here in Austin under the tutelage of Shelby Autrey. She has over 100 hours of further training under David Kyle in a style known as Rocket Yoga, a progressive and creative form of Ashtanga. Her classes are a combination of powerful standing sequences, followed by grounding seated stretches with lots of breath-centered meditation weaved throughout. Megan believes in the power of bodily movements to calm the mind, and the power of the mind to direct the body, leading to a deeper union between the two. She reminds students that mental fluctuations can often make the practice feel different from day to day, but the trick is to just come to your mat anyway. Her promise: while we may regret skipping our practice, we never regret showing up!
