Yoga for Joy: Freedom Through Emotional Expression
You've probably heard of yoga for flexibility. You've probably heard of Yoga for strength and conditioning. But have you heard of yoga for freedom and expression?
Yoga for Joy is more than just a workout. It’s a “playful” and “beautifully orchestrated” journey through the chakra system to strengthen the emotional body and the nervous system. By exploring and expressing feelings in a safe environment, Yoga for Joy teaches that all emotions are signs pointing the way to love.
Yoga for Joy is primarily a 60 min kriya or series of Kundalini postures, breathwork and meditations. This is blended with practices from ecstatic dance, NLP, Internal Family Systems, and the WAE of Emotions.
"I felt joy in a new way. It wasn't big and exciting. Instead it was calm and powerful."
"I've never experienced unity like that."
"During the joy movement lots of memories came up from throughout my life. I got so many flashes of joy."
"I've been emotional all week. Coming here felt so good to express and release what I was struggling with and have it received by other people. It gave me permission to feel."
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
In our fear-based society we were taught to fear what we should love. We have been taught to avoid what we should embrace.
In general, men have been taught to fear crying and being sad or soft. Men have also also taught to generally repress all emotions.
Some women were conditioned to fear yelling and being angry or hard.
What we have been taught/conditioned to fear is what the other gender has been taught to do.
This disconnect and repression is the cause of so much dis-ease in relationships and for individuals. A vast majority of disease is psychosomatic or related to both body and mind.
The opposite of repression and depression is expression.
Yoga for Joy brings us together to explore and express emotions in a safe and loving environment using a blend of modalities. By doing this work we can more fully engage with ourselves, in relationships, and in the world.
