A retired gymnast, dancer, choreographer and coach from the Olympic City, Colorado Springs, Derrek was first introduced to yoga as a supplementary training regiment. Since then, he has learned to reshape his practice and philosophy to emphasize autonomy, functionality, and sensation through challenging yet highly accessible sequences. As a trauma-informed yogi, Derrek rejects the performative intensity of the mainstream yoga industry and aims to foster spaces that prioritize curiosity and play. As such, a typical class will guide you through repetitive mobility-focused flows designed to settle the mind and find new space in your body. You’ll move, groove, sweat, and stretch to leave class feeling energized, strong, and ready for whatever the rest of your day holds. Grab your props and come meet Derrek on the mat!
