This isn’t your typical cup of tea.

This is Gong Fu Cha — the centuries-old Chinese art of tea service. Multiple short steeps of seriously high-quality leaves, each one revealing a new layer of the tea’s character. No big pots. No tea bags. Just small, intentional rounds poured so you can fully drop into the sensory experience.

West China Tea imports every leaf directly from small farms across China and Taiwan — over 200 varieties you literally can’t find anywhere else in Austin.

The vibe is quiet, cozy, and communal. You’ll sit at a shared table while a trained tea server steeps pot after pot, keeping your tiny cup full. Stay for the whole session, pop in after class, or slip in whenever your schedule allows.

Cups will be flowing the entire time, and every pour offers something new to discover. No tea knowledge required. No weird rules. Just show up.

What to expect.

Rare, farm-direct teas

Each session features a rotating selection of teas sourced directly from small farmers in China and Taiwan. Every steep reveals new layers — floral, earthy, sweet, smoky — depending on what’s being poured that day.

Served, not self-serve

An experienced tea server handles everything — the steeping, the pouring, the timing. All you do is sip, breathe, and be present. The small cups mean every round is a fresh experience.

Come solo, leave connected

The communal table is the whole point. Conversation happens naturally — about the tea, about life, about whatever comes up. It’s the easiest place in Austin to meet someone new.

“You just spent an hour being present on the mat. Why rush back into the chaos? Let the tea be the bridge between practice and real life.”
