Día De Los Muertos: A Heart Opening Cacao Ceremony Honoring Ancestors

Join us as we ask Mama Cacao for her guidance and open our hearts to spirits who have passed before us! In cultures throughout the world, the beginning of November brings with it a thinning of the veil, and we have greater access to the other world. With the medicine of Mama Cacao, we are able to welcome these Spirits and hold their memory with love, compassion and through the immense support of a heart-centered community.

This ceremony will include movement through ecstatic dance, a guided meditation, sound healing and journaling prompts. Please bring a journal and water.

Cacao graciously provided by 3rd Eye Cacao Lounge.

Meet your host

Jessi Bostad is a local Women's Circle Facilitator and host on her sacred family property in Dripping Springs (Deer Creek Sister Circle). She is also a Fine Artist and homeschooling Mama with deep roots in Austin, spanning six generations back in her maternal lineage. She is currently a student of Irish Celtic Shamanism (her indigenous ancestry) with the Dublin school of Slí An Chroí "Pathway of the Heart". She is passionate about her spiritual calling in this life and enjoys sharing any and all heart-opening, ceremonial practices with the community.

Chef Margaret Fontneot is a lifetime Austinite and Cosmic Chocolatier. For her, working with plant medicines in the kitchen is a deep ceremonial endeavor. Recipes for her well-beloved treats merge the divine Cacao with further potentiative superfoods, adaptions, and spices. From the Lion’s Mane Truffles to the Ascension Brownies, flavor profiles are channeled by Margaret with the intention of uplifting body, mind and spirit. When she is not in the kitchen she most likely has her hands in the dirt tending to her medicine garden. She believes plants carry the light from the divine source, and if one is open to receive, there are many divine healings that’s the earth has to show us.

In the vibrant tapestry of Life, Kimberly Fontenot weaves a daily practice, rich with intention. Prayer serves as the bedrock of her day, grounding her in gratitude and purpose. She finds solace in ceremony, allowing her to connect deeply with the wisdom of the natural world, plant allies, medicines and especially the sacred plants of the Amazon rainforest. Music and art are her lifelines, allowing her to connect to the frequencies of the Universe and the pulse of Life itself. Her home is a sanctuary, smudged and cleansed daily to maintain a positive vibration. The Sacred Art of Smudge (defumacao) is a daily ritual which envelopes her home and garden with cleansing smoke, inviting peace and positivity.
