Yin At Flow Yoga North Loop with Meg L.

Yin is a slow, mindful practice that targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. Working with the energetic systems of the body, Yin Yoga brings the body into balance, and improves its natural range of motion. Most poses are done while seated or lying down supported by the use of props, and are held in stillness for several minutes. As we move into stillness, we bring body, breath and soul into harmony. It’s a perfect complement to physical yoga practice. You will leave class feeling refreshed, renewed and restored.

What to expect

Yin Yoga is a contemplative style of yoga that involves holding poses for an extended period, typically three to five minutes or more. It is a slower-paced, more meditative form of the physical and spiritual discipline of yoga. Unlike other types of yoga that focus on engaging the muscles, Yin Yoga aims to target the connective tissues through passive holds and little muscular effort.

Yin yoga is meant to help promote balance within your body by working the deep connective tissues. It is a branch of hatha yoga, an ancient Indian practice that focuses on stretching and strengthening the physical body to prepare for sitting meditation.

Yin Yoga is based on three fundamental principles known as Tattvas: Edge, Stillness, and Time that are to be expected in every class. The edge refers to how deeply you go into each pose, which varies for each individual and is determined by the natural limits of your body. Props, such as blocks or blankets, can be used to support the body and help you find your edge. Once you find your edge, the goal is to remain still, and breathe deep and consistently, in the pose for an extended period of time, allowing the deep connective tissues to release. The length of time spent in each pose is an essential aspect of Yin Yoga, as it provides ample time to fully release and obtain maximum benefits.

Nice, quiet studio, a wide variety of classes, plus a welcoming, enlightened and no-pressure atmosphere. I haven't practiced yoga in years, and Flow offers a range of options to help with that transition back. Highly recommended for yoga beginners, intermediates and pros.

Flow yoga is one of the best studio experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone is SO welcoming and kind. They offer a wide variety of classes and even have fun events like yoga & comedy. It’s also spacious and clean. The vibes are immaculate and I love ending class in the lobby with tea or cacao. Their introductory month for $30 is great too, I’ve convinced my mom to join me too. Thank you!

I'm so glad to have found a yoga studio close to my apartment!!! I like that in your first month, you can try out as many different classes as you want, so you can find out what kind of yoga and/or instructor(s) you like. I've been going to hot Vinyasa once a week, and it's been a great addition to my fitness routine. Would recommend! Also Enrique is awesome (: you should definitely take a class with him.

Flow Yoga North Loop completely changed how I feel about yoga. I’ll be honest—I was pretty skeptical trying yoga again. I had tried a few classes in the past, but I think I just picked the wrong styles or wasn’t in the right environment. I'm so happy to have tried their 30 Days for $30 intro offer to give me the chance to explore different classes, styles, and teachers without pressure. Thanks to this, I found the perfect fit for me—a class and teacher that make me genuinely enjoy showing up on my mat. The space is welcoming, the instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, and there’s truly something for everyone. Whether you're brand new to yoga or just looking for the right vibe, I can't recommend this studio enough. So grateful I gave yoga another try here!

The people here are so nice! I was intimidated for my first class, arrived late, had to rush out early and was all around a jackass and the instructor was so sweet. Lol

FAQ

Yin and yang yoga are like the yin and yang of the yoga world - they balance each other out. Yin yoga is slow and passive, focusing on deep stretching and relaxation, while yang yoga is more active and dynamic, focusing on building strength and heat.

Yoga can help boost your immune system like a superhero cape for your cells. It can help reduce stress, which can weaken your immune system. Plus, the focus on breath control can help improve lung function and reduce the risk of respiratory infections.

Yoga helps with digestion like a gentle massage, helping your body process food more effectively. It can help improve blood flow to the digestive organs, reduce bloating and constipation, and promote overall digestive health. Plus, it's a lot more enjoyable than getting a stomach ache.

Yoga helps with self-confidence like a cheerleader, always there to encourage and support you. It can help you learn to trust your body, improve posture, and increase body awareness. Plus, it's a lot more empowering than wearing a short skirt and shaking pom-poms.

Yoga helps with focus and concentration like a laser beam, helping you hone in on the task at hand. It can help improve mental clarity, reduce distractions, and increase productivity. Plus, it's a lot more enjoyable than staring at a computer screen all day.
