Vinyasa (heated) At Flow Yoga Georgetown with Claire L.

Vinyasa yoga is a creative form of yoga. Yoga poses are linked together with the breath in a flowing sequence. Expect to move, sometimes vigorously, from pose to pose. This practice stimulates and energizes the mind and body through asanas (poses), with focus on the breath. This class will help you to build strength, increase endurance, create flexibility, and release tension.

If you appreciate having things a little loose and like to keep moving, this style is definitely worth a try.

One of the most popular yoga myths is the belief that you need to be flexible before ever setting foot on a mat. The truth is, flexibility isn’t a prerequisite. In fact, a regular yoga practice will actually help you become more flexible over time. Increased flexibility can help decrease the risk of injuries, create a better range of motion of joints, lengthen muscles, improve balance and overall health!Flexibility + mobility is a fun, judgment-free space, suitable for all levels. In this class we will work on different muscle groups and joints each week, using yoga, mobility, and stability techniques as well as Myofascial release to improve range of motion and flexibility. Props such as straps, bolsters, blocks, and tennis balls will be used to target specific areas and help ease your body into the poses and stretches. Modifications and options will be offered throughout the class.

Yoga means union, and also union of opposites...effort and ease, strength and flexibility. To find balance in the body, we need both movement and stillness. Flow +Chill is a combination class, starting with a slower paced vinyasa, followed by restorative poses (supported by props). We will flow for half of class to warm the body up, then take the second part of class to stretch, release tension and dive into a deeper state of chill.

I love this studio! They have such a variety of classes to choose from, really great events (Kirtan singing, new moon sound bath, etc.), and awesome teachers. The studio is gorgeous and it's in a great location in Georgetown. I highly recommend checking them out.

It has been years since the last time I walked into a studio. Flow Yoga Georgetown was the perfect "welcome back to the practice" studio. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and awesome. The location is so unassuming, tucked away in a strip mall. However, you feel you are in a big city studio once inside. Love this place and the people!

Just started going to this studio and absolutely fell in love. I love the diversity in class styles and variety of the flows I've been to. I also love a hands on assist! Everyone is warm and welcoming and much more of that cozy yoga community than some of the popular heated studios I had been going to around austin!

Absolutely love their yoga sessions! They’re so unique compared to other yoga classes I’ve taken. Very beginner friendly but will also offer more advanced moves if desired. Really helped me destress from college classes and is totally worth the price with unlimited classes. Their classes vary on times all throughout the day and are very flexible with my schedule.

I've loved each class so far. There is a variety of class types and the schedule allows for early morning or late evening which is great for my schedule.

I have been coming here for about six months, off and on, but consistent on Fridays at 9 with Selena. I was skeptical at first, since it was a level 3 class and to be honest, I'm like a brick and not that flexible. I met her and she assured me that it was challenging but I would be okay. As a hardcore weightlifter, I have been doing yoga off and on for fifteen years and I can honestly say that Selena is one of the best instructors I have ever had. First of all, she really pushes me to new limits. Nothing scary, just that extra push we all need at times. Second, my arms are 16 inches around and there is no way in hell I can cross my elbows. I asked her about this (because she loves feedback), and the next week she told me she met with a friend at Stretchzone and he told her somethings I could do to get more flexibility. Now, before class starts she usually talks to me and tells me what poses will be done and gives me a variation on how I can do them. You really just don't get that level of service at most places. I'm not a Yogi, or whatever, I am Selena's student and I really appreciate how much her classes have helped when I am in the gym with strength and opening up my range of motion, which has pushed my strength to new limits. Don't be afraid to take her class, be excited. You will not regret it.

FAQ

Yoga is like a full-course meal, while stretching is like a quick snack. Yoga incorporates breathwork, meditation, and mindfulness, while stretching is more focused on the physical aspect of flexibility and range of motion.

A typical yoga class is like a good movie - it lasts long enough to tell a story, but not so long that you start to nod off. Most classes run between 60-90 minutes, but there are also shorter and longer options available, depending on your schedule and attention span.

Well, imagine trying to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time. Now imagine doing that while standing on one leg and reciting the alphabet backward. That's what yoga does for your coordination – it teaches you to be a multitasking ninja, gracefully moving through poses while keeping your balance and focus.

Yoga for cardiovascular health is like a gentle workout for your heart. It can help lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and reduce the risk of heart disease. It's like a love letter to your heart, only without the cheesy poetry.

Mindfulness in yoga is like the glue that holds everything together - it helps you stay present and connected to your body and breath, and can even enhance the mental and emotional benefits of your practice.
