Yin involves holding poses passive and with little muscular effort for an extended period to target the connective tissues
30 day trial for $30Yin Yoga is a contemplative style of yoga that involves holding poses for an extended period, typically three to five minutes or more. It is a slower-paced, more meditative form of the physical and spiritual discipline of yoga. Unlike other types of yoga that focus on engaging the muscles, Yin Yoga aims to target the connective tissues through passive holds and little muscular effort.
Yin yoga is meant to help promote balance within your body by working the deep connective tissues. It is a branch of hatha yoga, an ancient Indian practice that focuses on stretching and strengthening the physical body to prepare for sitting meditation.
Yin Yoga is based on three fundamental principles known as Tattvas: Edge, Stillness, and Time that are to be expected in every class. The edge refers to how deeply you go into each pose, which varies for each individual and is determined by the natural limits of your body. Props, such as blocks or blankets, can be used to support the body and help you find your edge. Once you find your edge, the goal is to remain still, and breathe deep and consistently, in the pose for an extended period of time, allowing the deep connective tissues to release. The length of time spent in each pose is an essential aspect of Yin Yoga, as it provides ample time to fully release and obtain maximum benefits.

Bringing your own yoga mat to class is like bringing your own pillow to a sleepover – it's a personal preference. Most studios provide mats, but if you're a germaphobe or just want to be extra prepared, feel free to bring your own. Just make sure it's clean and not too slippery.
Yoga is like a tightrope walker for your body. It can help improve your balance by strengthening your core and leg muscles, and improving your proprioception (your body's awareness of its position in space). Plus, it's a lot more fun than walking a tightrope all day.
Yoga can help with fatigue like a shot of energy for your body. It can help improve blood flow, increase energy levels, and reduce stress. Plus, it's a lot more fun than drinking a cup of coffee every day.
Yoga is like a circus performer for your body. It can help improve your balance and coordination by strengthening your muscles, improving your proprioception, and teaching you to move your body in sync with your breath. Plus, it's a lot more fun than juggling all day.
Hot yoga is like a sauna for your soul. It can help improve flexibility, detoxify the body, and enhance overall well-being. Plus, it's a great way to sweat out all the toxins from that last slice of pizza. Just don't forget to hydrate!
