at North LoopThe breath is a window into how you're feeling in your emotions and in your day. It is a powerful tool we always have at our disposal with profound effects on all the systems of the body. The term "Pranayama" is derived from the Sanskrit words "prana," or 'life force' and 'vital energy' and "ayama," meaning 'to control'. The Yoga Sutras tell us, 'By controlling and regulating the breath, we can control and regulate our mind.
This workshop is based in Yogic Philosophy plus newer research in the field of breath and breathing. We will explore:
For teachers and home practitioners alike, we will answer questions like how and where to practice breathwork in a structured class.
Pranayama practices can regulate the nervous system, prepare you for your day ahead, help with sleep, and lead you towards experiences of deep states of conscousness and awareness. Come explore, learn, and breathe.
Kimberly is an E-RYT 500 certified yoga and Trauma informed instructor who has taught in NYC, LA and now Austin during her 22 year career. She has taught over 5,000 classes locally in Austin, as well as Teacher Trainings, and both local and International Retreats. Kimberly has been featured in articles in both Backstage Magazine's 'Best of L.A.' under 'favorite yoga class', ‘Voyage Austin’, and recently featured on Spectrum News.
Her training began in NYC in ISHTA Yoga, the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda with Alan Finger. She has gone thru additional trainings with Kia Miller (Yoga Works techniques), Jasmine Lieb (Therapeutics), Judith Lasater (Restoratives) and Jillian Pransky (Restoratives). And is continually expanding her knowledge, having the opportunity to learn from Leslie Kaminoff, Max Strom, Gary Kraftsow, Shari Goodhartz (Anusara based), Dr. Richard Miller, Sally Kempton, Donna Farhi, and more.
In addition to teaching at Flow Yoga, you can find her teaching at Cancer Rehab & Integrative Medicine. She holds a BFA from the Boston Conservatory.
Kimberly holds a lighthearted space, focusing on breath, alignment, and self inquiry.
