Strength for Your Vinyasa Practice

You know strength training can support your yoga practice — but what should you actually be training, and how does it translate to what you do on the mat?

In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll break down five foundational strength patterns — squat, hinge, push, pull, and core.
We’ll train each pattern with foundational strength exercises, then connect it back to familiar poses and transitions like Chair, Warrior III, Chaturanga, Down Dog, and more.

Expect plenty of movement, a little bit of anatomy chat, and practical ways to bring more strength and control into your practice.
No strength-training experience needed. If you have a dumbbell (or pair) or kettlebell you're welcome to bring it along. No worries if you don’t, there will be some there you can use. Come ready to move, learn, and pick up something heavier than a yoga block.

A lover of sports and physical movement, Kate has a BS in Kinesiology and Health and is a certified Personal Trainer. She has practiced yoga intermittently for nearly 20 years, but it was during her pregnancy in 2019 that she recognized the mental benefits and clarity yoga can offer. Kate felt called to embark on the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, which she completed in November 2024.
Kate loves to integrate strength and mobility into flows to physically exert the body, requiring the mind to be present, and then utilize a generous cool down and savasana to ground both body and mind - hopefully with a bit of playfulness and some laughs along the way. Life can be serious, but your practice doesn't have to be.
