Authentic Relating At Flow Yoga Westgate with Heather M.

How we see others has more to do with ourselves than them.

We can explore our projections to learn about ourselves and even use projections in a connecting way.

Authentic Relating (AR) is the practice of freely expressing your authentic experience in the company of others.

Expressing in this way enables you to create connections in the world based on who you really are.
Authentic Relating practices create a safe, intentional space - rooted in play and supported by clear boundaries - to create meaningful and enjoyable connections to self and others. By learning Authentic Relating skills, you can drop your conditioned relational habits, and learn to relate with yourself and others from a deeper more authentic expression of your truth.

You'll be led through exercises designed to help you heal your relationship with yourself, and learn to be comfortable in your own skin—then connect with others as your newfound 'authentic' self. Put simply, this is a place to practice being human.

This is an opportunity to:
Expand your friend circle
Learn something about yourself
Explore the human experience
Have the courage to reveal something about yourself
Have the compassion to hold space for another as they reveal themselves
Feel and express JOY

Style: Yin / Yang yoga class Learn about Yin / Yang Yoga class style ›

Yin is a slow, mindful practice that targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. Working with the energetic systems of the body, Yin Yoga brings the body into balance, and improves its natural range of motion. Most poses are done while seated or lying down supported by the use of props, and are held in stillness for several minutes. As we move into stillness, we bring body, breath and soul into harmony. It’s a perfect complement to physical yoga practice. You will leave class feeling refreshed, renewed and restored.

I’m new to yoga. I have had the chance to take multiple classes this first month. It has been a great experience.

I started going to Flow Yoga after being sick for a few months, and it's been just what I needed to feel like myself again. The studio is beautiful and has such a calming vibe. They offer a great variety of classes, and all the teachers are fantastic. Parking is super easy, and their prices are affordable with no contracts! When I was adjusting my membership, Annie was super helpful—I got all my questions answered and everything set up quickly over chat on their website. Thanks, Flow Yoga, for being such a great support on my healing journey!

I'm so glad I found Flow Yoga. I started with their 30 days for $30 offer and tried out a lot of classes and have loved all of them. I appreciate that the yoga instructors take their time, are thoughtful with their guidance, and let you move at your own pace. I've been out of practice for a while and have never felt intimidated in a class. Instead I feel like I've found a nurturing community and relaxing place to visit when I need to take care of myself. Thanks, Flow Yoga!

Great yoga studio. Lots of options for different styles of yoga. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely feels like more of a community than just a place to take yoga classes.

FlowYoga embodies a studio culture based on connection and healing. Being a yoga teacher and healing retreat business owner, I was very pleased with the diverse class options and beautiful energy of all the teachers. I would highly recommend this studio regardless of your skill level as it’s all about the breathe, movement and listening to your body.

Everyone is so kind at the Westgate studio. It's always clean, inviting, and smells great too. I like that they provide free yoga mats to borrow, hot tea in the lounge area and ample cubbies for storage. It truly feel like a judgement free zone.

FAQ

Yoga helps with flexibility like a ballet dancer, helping you move gracefully and fluidly. It can help improve posture, increase range of motion, and reduce the risk of injuries. Plus, it's a lot more enjoyable than trying to pirouette in a tutu.

Well, imagine trying to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time. Now imagine doing that while standing on one leg and reciting the alphabet backward. That's what yoga does for your coordination – it teaches you to be a multitasking ninja, gracefully moving through poses while keeping your balance and focus.

Yoga is like a lullaby for your body. It can help improve your sleep quality by reducing stress, calming your mind, and promoting relaxation. Plus, it's a lot more fun than counting sheep all night.

If you have an injury, think of yourself as a master chef adapting a recipe. You can modify yoga poses by using props like blocks or straps, or simply by adjusting your alignment. And remember, it's better to be safe than sorry – no one wants to end up with a yoga-induced injury that puts them out of commission for weeks.

Yoga can help boost your immune system like a superhero cape for your cells. It can help reduce stress, which can weaken your immune system. Plus, the focus on breath control can help improve lung function and reduce the risk of respiratory infections.
