What to expect

Yoga is for everyone - no matter your background, gender, ethnicity, age. The benefits extend far and wide, and while no two yogis are the same, the practice is inclusive for all.

This an entire class created with a supportive intention in mind. Your instructor will offer, and teach you, yoga postures that can be done while sitting, standing or stepping. If you experience difficulty with balance, joint pain or muscle tension, modifications are available using blocks, bolsters, blankets and chairs to help you achieve the stretch, sensation and benefit of yoga. Props are for pros.

In recent years, yoga’s been shown to help improve respiratory and cardiovascular function, relieve anxiety and depression, and ease pain and chronic stress. Particularly for seniors, yoga improves mobility, joint health, muscle strength and, overall, enhances quality of life. If you do only a fractionional range of motion, or skip a couple movements, the benefit of the exercise is still there, and the wholeness found in a yoga practice is achievable.

When we say #YogaForYall, we mean it! Whether you’re newly starting out, been practicing for years or just need to freakin’ rest your feet - Senior Yoga is here for you.

Yin is a slow, mindful practice that targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia. Working with the energetic systems of the body, Yin Yoga brings the body into balance, and improves its natural range of motion. Most poses are done while seated or lying down supported by the use of props, and are held in stillness for several minutes. As we move into stillness, we bring body, breath and soul into harmony. It’s a perfect complement to physical yoga practice. You will leave class feeling refreshed, renewed and restored.

One of the most popular yoga myths is the belief that you need to be flexible before ever setting foot on a mat. The truth is, flexibility isn’t a prerequisite. In fact, a regular yoga practice will actually help you become more flexible over time. Increased flexibility can help decrease the risk of injuries, create a better range of motion of joints, lengthen muscles, improve balance and overall health!Flexibility + mobility is a fun, judgment-free space, suitable for all levels. In this class we will work on different muscle groups and joints each week, using Functional movements, CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations), Kinstretch techniques as well as Myofascial release to improve range of motion and flexibility. Props such as straps, bolsters, blocks, and tennis balls will be used to target specific areas and help ease your body into the poses and stretches. Modifications and options will be offered throughout the class.

5 star rating Terry 5 star review for Flow Yoga Westgate March 12, 2025

Flow is a wonderfully unpretentious studio. The rooms are especially spacious with homey touches and plenty of gear to borrow like bolsters, blocks, and blankets. I really appreciate that the instructor area is raised so the entire class can see if they need help! Every instructor/class type I've tried thus far has been to welcoming, inclusive, and knowledgeable. I prefer this studio as a home base over all the others that I have tried.

5 star rating Amelia S. 5 star review for Flow Yoga Westgate March 6, 2025

The teachers I've experienced at Flow Yoga are some of the best in Austin. There are more traditional yoga practices - which I prefer. Some classes are educational and spiritual in nature - which I love. As a trained yoga teacher, Flow yoga classes are the real deal.

5 star rating Sarah A. 5 star review for Flow Yoga Westgate March 5, 2025

Lovely studio! You have a lot of variety of options and it is welcoming to all skill levels of yoga. I enjoy their sunday wellness session the most, it is a lovely way to intentionally reset for the week ahead. The cacao and tea are also two great bonuses to attending :)
